WSLF Whole Foods Oat Bread Recipe
This flourless, vegan oat bread recipe, inspired by my own Middle Eastern roots and recent trip to Jordan, is made entirely from plants! No refined sugars, flours or chemicals. How cool is that? It is absolutely delicious and so versatile.
The recipe is adapted from my 2-ingredient whole-foods pancake recipe — although this bread is heartier, thicker and more ‘rustic’.
Eat the Rainbow
Look at those amazing colors! When it comes to plant foods (unprocessed), color = NUTRIENTS! Don’t count calories, count colors. You want to be eating a variety of plant foods because every color, every taste, every enzyme brings some new healing energy to your body. Seriously, its incredible and it just feels. so. good.

Ive made it here with my (mum’s) amaaaaazing chickpea & carrot burger recipe and some marinated olives from Olive Grove UAE (they’re AMAZING and they make an incredible vegan pesto, if you’re in Dubai. Available at Ripe Market and in Town Center).

This bread would also make an AMAZING avocado toast, maybe sprinkled with lemon juice, hemp seeds and cracked pepper!
Oat Bread Recipe
5 minutes to your perfect, flourless vegan flatbread. Made from whole plant foods!
- 1/2 cup porridge oats (not whole, rolled oats). Scotch/instant oats are also fine
- 1/2 cup ground oats make in blender or food processor by pulsing whole oats
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tsp ground flax seeds
- 1 tsp spice mix. I used Arabic shawarma mix (garlic, coriander, onion powder, black pepper, cumin)
Mix flax seeds in water and leave aside to gelatinize
Mix oats, oat flour, spices and baking powder until evenly combined. Slowly add water/flax. Add additional liquid if necessary. The mixture should be thick, but not too dry
Heat a non-stick frying pan on medium-high
When the pan is hot spoon half the mixture into a thick round, using the back of your spoon to spread it evenly. Repeat with the other half
After around 3 minutes, flip the flatbread, leaving to brown on the other side. You make cook longer if you feel the mixture hasn't crisped up enough
Makes two flat breads or one large pizza-style round.
